In support of digital skills development and the enhancement of employing artificial intelligence applications in media and research fields, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Tarek Ali, President of the University; Professor Dr. Hamada Mahmoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Dr. Mamdouh Mekawy, Dean of the Faculty; and Professor Dr. Nesreen, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Fatma Fayez, Head of the Journalism Department, the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Journalism Department organized a training workshop entitled “Using Artificial Intelligence Tools in Sentiment Analysis and Data,” in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sayed, Former Dean of the Faculty, and Mr. Mohamed Ali Khalifa, General Manager of the Faculty.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Taher Mohamed Mohamed Amin, an Artificial Intelligence expert and faculty member at the Global Institute for Arab Renewal. The workshop addressed a number of topics related to the employment of artificial intelligence tools in sentiment analysis and data, including an overview of the concept of sentiment analysis and its importance in monitoring public opinion trends, as well as an introduction to the most prominent tools and techniques of artificial intelligence used in analyzing textual and digital data.
The workshop also discussed mechanisms for collecting data from digital platforms and social media, methods of processing and preparing it for analysis, and highlighted applications of artificial intelligence in analyzing media content and measuring audience engagement.
Furthermore, the workshop addressed the use of machine learning models and natural language processing in text classification and the extraction of meanings and implications, in addition to how to read and interpret the results of sentiment and data analysis in support of media decision-making. Emphasis was also placed on the ethical and legal aspects associated with the use of these tools, supported by practical models and applications from real media and research contexts.
The workshop concluded with honoring Dr. Taher Amin by Professor Dr. Mamdouh Mekawy, Dean of the Faculty, in appreciation of his outstanding efforts and active participation in delivering the workshop, as well as his scientific contributions in supporting the Faculty’s direction toward employing artificial intelligence technologies in the educational and training process. The recognition also included commendation of his role in delivering a previous training workshop at the Public Relations Department, which was held under the leadership of Professor Dr. Noha El-Talawy, Head of the Public Relations Department, within the framework of the Faculty’s commitment to benefiting from specialized expertise and enhancing integration among different academic departments.
